Finding homes of quality is a current challenge prospective customers report as they look around the Horsham area housing market, and they quote our high specification as part of the attraction to the bespoke homes we are building. Having worked in the new homes industry for many years for national house builders our aim was to get away from the conveyor belt feel of volume housing developments and we identified there was a niche for the type of special homes our discerning customers were telling us they wanted. We set up Churchlands Homes 16 years ago with the aim of creating individual homes that would look as if they had always been there, with character but also with all the benefits of new – all these years later, that is what we are still doing. For us the location and plot setting of each bespoke project is always key, and we start our designs from there – the old saying “location, location, location” still holds true.
At the moment we have two exceptional projects that really show the best of old and new. Fletchers Cottages is a period home that we have extended and refurbished to retain the charm of the original 1900 building married in with contemporary light and space of the new additions. While set in a rural position enjoying views over the surrounding fields and countryside, Fletchers is also ideally located for easy access to Horsham with its market town charm combined with great amenities and restaurants. Excellent local amenities are just a short walk along the famous and picturesque South Downs Way in Southwater village centre with a strong village community including fantastic schools, doctor, dentist and a good range of local shops.
Fletchers has lots of ‘wow’ factors – the variety of spacious reception rooms, each very different but all very well proportioned, one with an inglenook open fire, three with easy to light open burning gas fires and the gorgeous kitchen and family room area with lantern roof and panoramic views. The three luxury contemporary bathrooms offer the usual bespoke Porcelonosa designer feel to sanitary ware and tiles, with a few extras along the way such as a spa bath and rain shower. The contemporary kitchen offers all sorts of extras such as an Aga and AEG oven and microwave stack, three drawer dishwashers and an induction hob as well as a drinks fridge and wine chiller fridge. Bask in the feeling of light whatever the weather and enjoy stunning views from all parts of the house.
Orchard Place has also been designed to make the most of the light throughout all the seasons, so that you can enjoy the contemporary flowing arrangement of the accommodation in rain and shine. Formerly part of an orchard with a great setting in lovely private gardens in a quiet cul-de-sac on the outskirts of Southwater village but equally within easy reach of Horsham. Orchard Place not only offers a gorgeous kitchen and family room with a lantern roof but also lots of extras like a range cooker and AEG microwave and double oven stack, a family dishwasher and an additional drawer dishwasher, wine chiller fridge and American style fridge freezer. The upstairs accommodation is just as good, with all of the five bedrooms and three bathrooms offering space and flexibility. This is the first time we have used stone lintels, and the traditional build compliments the contemporary internal feel of the house in a perfect blend. The impressive entrance drive leads to the double garage and ample parking.
Both these homes are unique and enjoy the best of both worlds in all sort of ways, including the locations. Come and see for yourself.
